Antique French WWI 37mm trench art shell casing with extensive hand engraving commemorating Verdun.

This engraved French brass shell casing features decorative floral scrollwork and the inscription:

"VERDUN"
"OCT. 30 – NOV. 11"
"JOE PERELLO"

The dates correspond to a period during the 1916 Battle of Verdun. While the exact history of the engraving is unknown, it appears to have been created as a personal commemorative piece.
