Pair of Vintage Handmade Remembrance Ribbon Poppies
This pair of vintage handmade remembrance poppies reflects the enduring tradition of honoring those lost in war through the symbolic red poppy. Crafted from layered red ribbon arranged into full blossoms and centered with black molded floral buttons, these commemorative flowers were likely made for remembrance observances or charitable fundraising during the early to mid-20th century.
Unlike the commercially manufactured Haig's Fund poppies, these examples were individually assembled by hand, representing the many homemade remembrance flowers created by veterans' organizations, community groups, and volunteers. Each retains its original straight pin on the reverse for wear as a remembrance corsage.
Each poppy measures approximately 3 inches in diameter.
Condition: Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including light fraying to some ribbon edges, minor creasing from storage, and light oxidation to the straight pins. The black center buttons remain securely attached. Please review all photographs as they are part of the description.
A meaningful pair of vintage remembrance flowers with wonderful display appeal and a connection to the long tradition of honoring military service and sacrifice.
