WWI Belgian Relief Fund "Belgian Babies" Corsage & Early Haig's Fund Silk Poppy

A meaningful pair of World War I and postwar remembrance fundraising pieces, including an original U.S. Belgian Relief Fund "Belgian Babies" corsage and an early Haig's Fund silk remembrance poppy dating to the 1920s.

The Belgian Relief Fund corsage features faded blue forget-me-not cloth flowers, a cloth leaf, and the original Belgian tricolor ribbon mounted on a paper-wrapped wire stem. It retains its original paper tag reading "BELGIAN BABIES,"issued to donors supporting Belgian war relief during World War I.

The Haig's Fund poppy retains its delicate silk petals, black thread stamens with green-tipped anthers, original black HAIG'S FUND center button, cloth leaf, and paper-wrapped wire stem. Established by Field Marshal Douglas Haig in 1921, these early silk poppies represent the beginnings of the annual Remembrance Day tradition that continues today.

Both pieces display honest age and handling wear consistent with over a century of history, including fading, fraying to the silk and cloth elements, and age-related wear to the paper-wrapped stems, but remain highly displayable examples of early wartime charitable fundraising memorabilia.
