An authentic World War I trench art heart pendant handcrafted from carved chalk and decorated in a hand-painted mottled camouflage pattern of red, pink, and green. Set into the center is the base of an Ottoman (Turkish) rifle cartridge, creating a striking souvenir likely made by a soldier during the First World War.

This style of trench art pendant is illustrated in Jane Kimball's Trench Art: An Illustrated History (page 211) and represents one of the more recognizable forms of handcrafted WWI sweetheart souvenirs.

Measuring approximately 1¼ inches tall (including the suspension loop), this one-of-a-kind pendant retains its original brass hanging loop and displays the careful hand craftsmanship characteristic of authentic wartime trench art.
