Antique Croatian Prayer Book With Angels, Clasp, and Devotional Medals

A beautifully ornamented Catholic prayer book titled Slava Bogu, a mir ljudem!—“Glory to God, and peace to people!” Prepared by Fr. J. Ivančić and published by J. Steinbrener, with Winterberg and New York listed on the title page.

The elaborate cover features two softly colored praying angels beneath a raised cross, framed by decorative metalwork. Attached devotional medals, an ornamented working clasp, and gold gilt page edges make this a particularly charming devotional treasure.

Inside are patterned endpapers, religious illustrations, and a handwritten ownership inscription. The calendar spans 1905–1923, suggesting publication around 1905; the exact publication date is unconfirmed.

Condition: The cover material appears to be celluloid, though unconfirmed. A tiny chip is present at the lower right corner of the spine, with some toning to the back cover. The angels and surrounding metalwork are well preserved, binding is tight and secure, and the clasp opens and closes. Interior pages show age-related toning, and scattered foxing
